Green tea is a type of tea that is made from Camellia sinesis leaves & buds that have not undergone withering & oxidation ( the tea processing steps) used to make oolong & black tea. It is one of the healthiest bevarage loaded with antioxidants.

It has been used as medicine for thousand of years, originating in China but widely used throughout the Asia. This bevarage has a multitude of uses from lowering blood pressure to preventing cancer.



Why choose green tea?

The main reason of choosing green tea over black tea that is black tea is processed in a way that allows for fermentation whereas green tea's processing avoids the fermentation process. As a result, green tea retains maximum amount of antioxidants and polyphenols. It also helps in many ways :





How much green tea is healthy for you?

Research says that filling up on too much green tea can do more harm than good. All over consumption of 320 mg of polyphenols in a day is good & makes up for your daily requirement of antioxidant. Although it also contain caffein which is danger for our health. 1 Cup of green tea gives you 25 to 50 gms of caffein ( according to FDA the safe amount of caffein for an adult is 400 mg per day). So, consuming 1-2 cups of green tea is good for you.


Do's :

>Drink between meals that is 2 hours before or after taking meal is the best time to maximize the nutrient intake & iron absorption.


Don't :

> Don't drink green tea too early in the morning specially on an empty stomach. Because it can cause bad effects on the liver as it contains high amount of cathecins.

> Don't drink green tea just before you go to sleep because the caffein present in it can create disturbe in your sleep.

> Try to avoid it if you are pregnant.

> Try to avoid it if you are severely anaemic.
