INDIAN PENNYWORT : a medicinal plant for your health

The scientific name of this plant is Centella asiateca. It is commonly known as thankuni (Bengali), mandookaparni ( Sanskrit). It is native to India, China, Indonesia, Africa.it is used in many problems concerning women. It is floursing on water and damp areas on tropical regions.


Benefits :


1. Boost cognitive function : Pennywort helps to improve cognitive function. Along with folic acid it works more well. A small study of National Institute of Health shows that pennyworth extract and folic acid together boosts the cognitive function after a stroke.



2. Detoxifying affect : Isoniazid an antibiotic used for the treatment of tuberculosis, have different kind of side effects. Recent study of NIH, shows that pennywort extract reduce the side effect of this antibiotics. It also helps to detoxify the liver and kidney.



3. Relive pain : Pennywort have anti-inflammatory property which helps in reducing joint pain resulting from arthritis. A research shows that, oral intake of pennywort extract helps in reduction of joint inflammation, cartilage erosion, bone erosion.



4. Promote wound healing : Dressing containing pennywort had healing effects on multiple types of wounds. This includes clean cuts by sharp objects, irregular tears caused by blunt-force trauma, and infected tissue.



5. Reduce stretch marks : Pennywort helps in reducing the appearance of stretch marks. It has been seen that terpenoids found in this plant helps in collagen production which helps to prevent the formation of new stretch marks and reduce the appearance of any existing marks.



6. Ease insomnia : pennywort is used for the treatment of sleeping disorder from many years. It also helps to reduce depression, stress, anxiety etc.



7. Improve blood circulation : if blood is not well circulates throughout our body then fluid retention may take place in different parts of our body like ankle, knee etc. taking 60 to 100 mg of pennywort extract 3 times per week ( massage) on affected area, or taking orally can improves blood circulation.

  • have a history of skin cancer
